Day 3 In The Books (July 16th)

There must be a law of the universe that states when you decide to make a move to put your life back into disciplined order that every opportunity of vice you've ever wanted will immediately present itself.

Today started at 7am.  I was to take my youth group to Blue Bayou water park today in Baton Rouge, LA.  I had in mind to make some egg whites for breakfast ... but ran out of time thanks to the fact that my van's light housing was cracked and needed to be fixed before we took off.  So instead, I ate three slices of whole grain bread.  Hmmm.

We got to the water park for about 10:30 and began to have the blast we expected to.  However, I did not take into account the physical exertion needed to climb 10,000 flights of stairs 300 feet into the air.

By 1:30, I was picking gum off of the stairs ... or at least considering it.  So we decided that I should not starve to death and look for food I was aloud to eat ... and so began the search for food.  I checked out the local eateries and found that even the salads they offered were smothered in pizza grease.  Fortunately, Blue Bayou allows you to leave the park and return ... so we did.  I found a local Wendy's and I knew I could find an edible salad there.

"You want a what?"  The employee behind the register did not understand how I could not want one of their premade salads.  But after some prodding, I got what I wanted.  The Baja salad with the meat and chili replaced with grilled chicken ... holding out all other stuff besides the stuff planted in the ground topped with fat free ranch.  It tasted pretty good.   I liked it and the large salad was enough to fill me.

I do find though that rabbit food does not stay in the gullet long ... by 3 I was arguing with one of my youth about her forgetting to remind me to eat lunch ... I was starving.

Fortunately, the fun of the place served as a distraction.  But then we left.  The youth sitting in the passenger seat had to restrain me from eating my steering wheel.  I would have eaten one of the smaller teens but I removed human flesh from the diet yesterday.

We ultimately resolved to eat at Chili's ... Wafflehouse has cholesterol in the air ... it sinks in through osmosis.  At Chili's I found the heart healthy area and settled on the Margarita grilled chicken.  It was delicious ... and filling.

I have discovered today that I like grilled chicken in a salad ... and that I can eat that every day ... twice a day, and be happy.  The question remains, will I actually make it for myself ... because that takes work.  But I am, after all, on a quest to attain a disciplined lifestyle ... so shouldn't that go with the territory?

I have also decided that I will start sharing some of the recipes that I am using to find this food to be seasoned appropriately and edible.  Hope they help ... if not even me!

  1. Perdue has pre-cooked, seasoned chicken strips and pre-portioned. You can freeze and just thaw each meal. fairly tasty!

  3. Or you could precook your chicken on Saturday night for the week, cut it up into strips and freeze it. It will have less preservatives that way. The Perdue sounds like a great option if you are short on time.
You are doing great! Keep it up.
